When I was first diagnosed the first year and a half, I was so shocked and taken aback by the diagnosis and how untreatable it was that I really felt I had been put in a waiting room for death. You are not among the living anymore. You’re no longer in the busy part of your life where you’re doing and living and growing and being and working and having adventures – now you have a broken heart, a literal broken heart, and we don’t know how long you have so just hang around in a holding pattern for a while and see how long you’ve got.
